MWC 2014 - HTC With Power to Give the union of smartphones is ... - ZDNet

Technology: The HTC program aims to create a supercomputer in a collaborative fashion to help research. It is based on an Android app to install on some HTC smartphones to share a portion of the computing power.

remembers the SETI @ home project (late 1990), which aimed to bring together the computing power of millions of computers around the world to help discover signs of extraterrestrial life. HTC takes the technical principle of this idea by applying it to smartphones.
