Hi,
I confirm: it is not possible on the 8S to choose where to save a contact: it will, by default, stored in the such and saved on SkyDrive … 
(though you can import contacts from your SIM: page 36 of the manual)
So no possibility for you except to save, if possible, using a device that would give you the opportunity
