HTC One: Finally an explanation for the lack of microSD international model
Published on 24/05/2013 by Samir Azzemou
While the Chinese version of HTC One proves both dual SIM and has a microSD memory card slot, the international version is in turn overlook these refinements. But there is a good reason for this state of affairs, the Taiwanese manufacturer has finally decided to unveil. Explanations.
There are often differences between local versions of smartphones, with the aim of adapting a product to market requirements. This is the case for the HTC One who, according to the operators and countries, sports colors and different equipment. In the grip of the mobile, we saw all the good intentions of HTC, which are translated into undeniable merits.
But among the small gripes regularly issued is the no microSD slot to expand the storage capacity of the flagship. To justify the Taiwanese manufacturer explained that the place lacked in its unibody smartphone. However, all versions of the latter do not have this defect. Indeed, it appears that the Japanese version has a microSD slot and the Chinese version is provided not only a microSD port, but also a dual slot for SIM cards.
It is quite logical to find two ports in a Chinese SIM mobile. It’s almost a local requirement. But there he had more room in the mobile to add another port, let alone two? The online magazine TechRadar went at CTIA 2013 which was held in Las Vegas until Thursday to ask Jeff Gordon, the director of online communication HTC. And his explanation is plausible. The Chinese version is only 3G, not 4G like ours. And it turns out that a 4G modem is a crazy place in a mobile. Once removed, HTC had the space not only to implement a second SIM port, but also a microSD slot. By inference, the Japanese version would be also only 3G.
