Both Asian rivals launch the streamlined their spearheads in the mobile market versions. We have tested and compared.

The two rivals Samsung and HTC have launched or announced during the summer “mini” versions of their spearheads, the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One. Both equipped with Android S4 mini and mini One target the same market segment 4G smartphones small, but have all of the major. Sold both 449 euros without subscription (HTC One mini will be available in September 2013), they differ primarily by their size. If both have the same diagonal screen (4.3 inches), borders are more important at HTC, including to accommodate both front speakers characteristics of the One series, a real plus compared to the mono speaker placed the back of the mini S4.

argument design clearly plays for HTC: aluminum hull contrast with the classic plastic Samsung, which may, however, appeal to those who want to take a firmer hand. The weight is slightly larger on the side of HTC (122 grams against 107).

The screen quality is, on paper, far better at HTC. With HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and 341 dots per inch (dpi), well ahead of the mini One mini S4 and resolution of 540 x 960 pixels to 256 dpi. But in fact, the Samsung screen is almost more pleasing to the eye, with its super amoled technology which makes the colors more vivid contrasts. Although it will be difficult to read small text (web pages for example), we recognize here the Samsung unmatched expertise in the field.

No SD in HTC

The storage capacity for the benefit of HTC, but it is, again, on paper. With 16GB Mini One double the 8GB mini S4. But it has a micro SD card slot for adding up to 64GB: what more than four times the capacity of competitor … but with the purchase of the card surcharge (approximately one euro per gigabyte). The battery appears substantially the same capacity, but not be removed from HTC: it will not be able to be replaced easily

.

software side, both devices come with Android 4.2.2 and classic overlay owner: Samsung’s TouchWiz, Sense from HTC. On this point, each user will have a different opinion and it would be inappropriate to decide. The user experience is essentially that of Android, the Google operating system, and its application store, the Play Store.

HTC has decided to activate a mandatory option on devices (test) lent to journalists, which collects information (non-personal) automatically via error reports, The Point.fr not thoroughly tested this smartphone. HTC has informed us that this decision is intended in particular to prevent leakage through the loan of a product not yet sold.
