HTC One S, launched in April 2012, will remain fixed on Android 4.1.1 and version 4.0 of the home interface, HTC Sense. The news was confirmed by the French branch of the manufacturer on Facebook where she has, not surprisingly, a few disappointed.
“ We inform you that the HTC One S will no longer have access to updates for future of Android and HTC Sense versions. We are aware that this information will disappoint some, but our customers can be confident that we have designed for the One S that offers video and audio experience of high quality ‘, y wrote Monday on behalf HTC France, in response to a user request when the One S receive the latest version of Android (4.2.2).
If the current is followed by a phone expires over time , this is the relative youth of the One who calls S, since the terminal recognizes less than 18 months of existence. HTC does not give any explanation as to the reasons for this choice, leaving any room for interpretation. The most obvious would probably aim of controlling costs, the manufacturer probably preferring to focus its resources on its flagship models of the moment, HTC One and – if you believe the rumors and recurrent leaks – future HTC One Mini.
The disappointment, however, may turn to the alternative scene (Cyanogen for example) where they will find the price of a few manipulations, the means to update their device to a newer system.
