Phones and PDAs – Doing class=”dateheure”> July 5, 2013 :: 11:58 :: By Axel Cereloz
HTC has announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2013, and unfortunately for the manufacturer, they are far from good. Even with the launch of the much awaited HTC One, the firm failed to do as well as last year and it takes a little bit in the wing. In 2012, in the same quarter, HTC posted an income of three billion dollars for a profit of 246 million. A year later, income fell to $ 2.35 billion and profit dropped to $ 41 million, as saying a fall that hurts.
One might be surprisednumbers as bad as the manufacturer would hope to find success with its flagship product recently launched: the HTC One. The company had announced it had sold 5 million in the space of fifty days. Experts analysts expected the turn and had announced a profit of around 70 million dollars.
In fact, in May (first complete after the launch of One month) figures were quite good and the company has experienced a slight decrease from last year. The problem is that a month after the emulation around the phone was already settled and HTC experiencing a decline in revenue of 24% from May and 26% compared to June 2012. April was also relatively catastrophic.
Sure, there’s bad news here but well digging you can find some hope. For if we compare with the HTC catastrophic results for the first quarter 2013 ($ 2.8 million profit), the second quarter is not so black as that. The company is in turmoil and will have to recover if she does not want her future darken. I’m not sure that the launch of the HTC Mini One can save the ship adrift, HTC is going to have to leave in search of solutions if he does not run.
