Two days after its official announcement, the HTC Max One is allowed to approach at a session handling in Paris. The opportunity for us to better understand the giant One and discover its new features.
Before I give you our impressions of the product, make a quick technical Reminder: HTC Max One is a smartphone running Android 4.3 with a large Full HD screen of 5.9 inches and rotating with a Snapdragon SoC 600 ( the same as the One), 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage expandable via microSD. A 3300 mAh battery and a “ultrapixels” 4 mp sensor accompany all this, for a sale price located around 699 euros.

first observation when taking the camera in hand: the format required and clearly the feeling of having almost a tablet in the hands dominates. For comparison, the Galaxy Note III, slightly smaller 0.2 inch seems thinner and discreet that Max One, together with its 10.3 mm thick and 217 grams, it seems a heavy coat and cumbersome. That said, the grip (or rather two hands) good rest and contact with nice shell. One finds the same materials as the Mini One and One and a flawless finish giving this side of “luxury” that already characterized the previous HTC smartphones. At the rear, there is also the return of the removable cap, which serves solely to insert a microSD card, since the battery is still not replaceable. Too bad …
Overall, therefore, the High One gives the impression of a giant hands One, the size difference is obvious. This observation is both a quality and a fault, because it is nice to see the same quality of manufacture, the same Super LCD 3 flawless and Sense overlay always well thought screen. But, on the other hand, heavy and cumbersome aspect of the device tends to make it less sexy than its predecessors. There are still some minor differences, but welcome, as the location of the buttons, this time on the right edge (finally!) and the arrival of the famous footprints rear sensor. This theoretically allows the terminal to unlock a simple swipe of your finger from top to bottom, but also to launch up to three different applications, depending on the print used.
just fingerprint sensor located below the camera sensor. Attention to the confusion.
In practice, the system seems to function properly, but most actions lack of ergonomics. Due to the large size of the device, it is indeed not easy to unlock it using the back, and one must try several times to be “in line” sensor. Especially since it must also think out the screen before her and then put his finger behind … In short, a lot of binding actions, which we could quickly put aside this feature to return to something more traditional. Launching an application using a finger, however, seems more interesting and shows responsive and accurate. But anyway, the presence of the fingerprint sensor seems very poorly thought and ultimately very gadget.
hull dedicated to One Max (left) contains a battery of 1200 mAh. Left: a subwoofer sold as an option to optimize the sound of the speaker. A good idea …
While it is too early to make a definite opinion on the One Max, our first grip was still blowing hot and cold. Phablette the perfect finish and comfortable screen, the new terminal HTC currently difficult to distinguish the many phablettes that have flooded the market her last months. While the Taiwanese manufacturer is not at its best, is it really wise to get an expensive product that seems too generic
